This circa 1933 portfolio of prints was produced to document the modern architecture to be seen at the “Century of Progress” 1933 Chicago World’s Fair.(Mark Freeman was an American modernist printmaker. He was born in Austria-Hungary and emigrated to New York in 1923. Freeman earned a BA and a Bachelor of Architecture from Columbia University, a Master of Architecture from Columbia, and a Diploma of Art and Archaeology from the Sorbonne in Paris. He also studied at the National Academy of Design. Freeman was a noted artist whose prints from the 1930s chronicle a seminal period of New York City’s architectural growth in a style that has been described by American artist, Will Barnet, as “a beautiful blend of the poetic and historical.
