there is a book called 101 cemeteries to see before you die and i’ve slowly been marking off the list. today i visited one of the ones on the list— novodevichy cemetery in Moscow which has many amazing sculptures and monuments of famous people. Here is a sampling of my favorites. The cemetery is so different from ones in other parts of the world. There is not a lot of common symbolism other than the occasional rare shrouded urn.
