Rare ivory handled engraved Brun Latrige repeating pistol,Invented in France in 1869, the Brun Latrige is often erroneously called the first semi automatic pistol.  Rather it is a double action pistol with a unique design. Rather than using the recoil or gas of a discharge, the action was entirely worked through trigger pull.  Pulling back the trigger in one long stroke fired the pistol, then ejected the empty casing.  Pulling the trigger forward then loaded a fresh cartridge from the fixed magazine which held ten rounds.  It was chambered for a 6mm and 8mm rimfire cartridge. -- source link
