Happy autism awareness month everyone!!This event is actually really important to me, because I myself am autistic (I have Aspergers Syndrome) and our voices need to be heard more.If you don’t exactly have an idea what autism is, it’s basically a developmental disorder and people with such disorder have difficulties with communication and such. I won’t really write down everything about it, so it could be best in your interest to search it and learn more about it.Being autistic is difficult. Autistic people often struggle with making friends, they struggle with their anxiety and emotions, sensory overloads, bullying and so on. They get misunderstood and mistreated a lot, because lots of people don’t really understand autism and so they don’t know how to work with such people. They often are seemed ‘’weird’’, ‘’different’’, ‘’not normal’’ and all that, even it’s not our fault that we are like this. It’s not that they and me suffer from autism, it’s that we suffer from the world that wasn’t designed for us. Autism is actually really common, yet it’s not spoken about enough. People don’t listen to us enough.I’m not begging you to know each detail about autism and make it first thing to always remember. I just want you to know that we are humans too and we deserve so much better, because lots of autistic people are being judged and hated just because we aren’t like other people. We only want you to understand that we have different needs and personality traits and that we want to be listened to more. So if you meet someone who is autistic, let them teach you about themselves and treat them the way they need to be treated. We want autism to be seemed as something okay and not bad or tragic. We want to be seemed as any normal human being.I actually am really awkward and I still struggle with communication a lot. I sometimes wish people that know me didn’t see AS as something ‘not so important to focus on’, since I feel like everyone just brushes it off and moves on eventually. It makes me feel it isn’t important, because I don’t really come off as autistic and that it’s not needed to be treated in some way. But sometimes I just wish someone could help me out with myself. It’s sometimes really not so easy.Anyways I will end this here, I think I have said already enough. I hope you will spread the message and perhaps be supportive about this. I hope you all have a nice day. ✨( @thatsthat24 ) -- source link
