(wo)manorial invites you to sense its seventh online exhibition, FloraXFauna, which launches Saturday, April 20, 2014 at 12:00 AM CST and is on view through July 18, 2014. floraXfauna focuses on art’s most timeless subject, nature. It features representations and explorations of artists, creative designers, and scientists who have been struck by the inspiration of earth’s plant and animal life. Whether it is sublime or beautiful, these artists reveal and remind us of something distantly familiar. Nature, like the feminine, has a history of exploitation and domination by patriarchy. But both prevail despite oppression. It creeps up in the middle of a city sidewalk in the form of a dandelion. We are struck by its charms and share its DNA. Do we uproot it or nurture its growth? floraXfauna is dedicated to our inherent connection with nature and unavoidable impact on the environment. Works by Haley Kattner Allen, Deborah Bright, LauraLee Brott, Debra Broz, Chiu Chih, Rebecca Clark, C-Lab, Kevin Dudley, Grayson Earle, Lauren Fiasconaro, Madora Frey, Juan Ford, Jessica Halonen, Loretta Mae Hirsch, Terry Huber, Jessica Iannuzzi Garcia, Ellie Irons, Deirdre Milionis, Gabriela Ochoa, Brittany Ransom, Bunny Rogers, Rachel Rushing, Alyce Santoro, Erin Stafford, Laura Theobald, and Melissa Tran. Curated by Haley Kattner Allen, Deirdre Milionis, and Gabriela Ochoa -- source link
