Yesterday, inspired by @thewildpine, we went for a walk for the first time in months. It was sooo lovely. I discovered the big reservoir behind our neighbourhood is full of wildflowers, and I found a pasture thistle that blew my mind. Naturally, I went back today, armed with a weeding tool my grandmother and mother used to use, and I uprooted a few wildflowers for the wildlife patch in my back garden. I also took a dead thistle head to see if I could collect seeds to try to grow it in a pot. On the way back yesterday, I passed a neighbour whose dew berries I nick, so I asked him for permission this time. He did one better and today left me out two baby dew berry vines he had in his backyard. Best part? They’re native to central Texas! So overall, I’m pretty stoked I left the house the past two days. We maintained safe social distances but were still able to enjoy shared spaces, and now I have two dew berry vines and some wildflowers in my big-friendly wild patch. ❤️https://www.instagram.com/p/B_G48XeJ-8B/?igshid=1nh3nki8gq9lo -- source link
