thelittlepalmtree:teachingfeelslike:thelittlepalmtree:teachingfeelslike:When kids who have never been allowed to struggle with anything ever enter my classroom and hate me for challenging them.are you offering them support? Or are you just being an Authoritarian and complaining because kids can’t do shit that you don’t teach them how to do?I’ll let you decide which you think I do.#but spoiler…you’re projecting some weird crap onto me and i’d appreciate it if you would#…not#like i seriously would walk into my classroom every day and be legitimately angry at kids who don’t know things#dude#come on#teaching#teacher problems#educationActually I’ve been to many classrooms where teachers complain that students are lazy or have never been challenged. In reality the teachers aren’t using the concept of the Zone of Proximal development properly, and scaffolding their teaching. If your students are struggling it’s probably not on their parents, in fact many privileged children have been exposed to best practices which make the struggle and confrontation of learning a lot more pleasant and therefore if a teacher continues to use adequate scaffolding, the students will be far more successful. So perhaps the issue is with your teaching and not your students. And THAT’S what you missed on Glee the third day of your sophomore-level educational theory course! -- source link
