My comic club is doing a set of the main tarot cards and these are the mock-ups for mine. We decided that the theme would be Fairy tales/Folklore/Mythology??? Just something along those lines. I have The Magician and Strength. I wanted to do something specifically not European based, so no Grimm fairy tales or any of that jazz. The Magician is Kirikou from the animation Kirikou and the Sorceress, which is an amalgam of west African folklore’s themes. I tried my best tot translate the objects and symbols from the original Magician card to their respective African ones, I’m no expert though.For Strength I did the same treatment but with Aztec culture. Strength usually depicts a woman with a lion. I wanted to do a different culture with a wildcat that had major ties to their beliefs, thus I chose the Jaguar.Now to finish them ;~; -- source link
