Thank you to @tarcherperigee for gifting me Jackson MacKenzie’s latest book to checkout! I was a bit apprehensive when I read that the author’s previous book is called ‘Psychopath Free’ because I resonate with very little abuser-focused writing and information. In the past I’ve tried reading emotional-abuse related books and I’ve either found them disappointing or disturbing (disturbing meaning: negatively contributed to mental health, triggering, crazy-making, paranoia inducing, anti-productive, heart-hardening). . . I was delighted to read in the intro of this book that this book is not that. Jason himself says his focus also remained on the abuser/ abusive behaviours, and it prevented him from healing. This has also been my experience. I think a lot of survivors struggle with this specific problem and don’t even realize it. I’m excited to read about the wisdom J has found in softening into healing. This is the way, guys. We cannot become hardened by having survived. We must allow our suffering to make us soft. . . I’ll keep you guys updated as I read! . . #WholeAgain #books #reading #bookclub #bookreview (at Lethbridge, Alberta) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bs_mM5knu5z/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=na8dy3nkyipx -- source link
