Everyone told me that making the climb to Kantara Castle was madness on the bike…that in the heat it would be physically unbearable. Well, about a fifth of the way up I had a blow out and the hill was so steep that trying to mend the broken inner-tube in the midday heat would have been nigh on impossible…so I decided to push the bike 11km to the top. I can’t begin to express the stress on my body making that climb, it was torture. However, I knew that when I stood on the top of that castle I’d feel like Richard the Lionheart himself….The sense of achievement standing on the battlements of such a formidable fortress, looking out over that view…I really did feel like a king. Moral of the story, don’t always listen to what other people tell you, if you have a dream, an ambition, don’t let anything stop you…keep climbing til you have nothing left, learn to appreciate the hardships, rise to every challenge…eventually you will build your very own castle in the clouds. #bikepacking -- source link
