nitrosplicer:apardonablemonomania:nitrosplicer:theshitpostcalligrapher:and all that glitters is gold——submitted by @apardonablemonomaniaSal must you fucking outshine me at every turn????jk jk this is fucking incredible a Shakespearean sonnet has an ababcdcdefefgg rhyme scheme. This is a wholeass sonnet and I’m going to use it to teach sonnets to my class, byemodesty demands that I observe that only the alternate lines rhyme (also that “fly” and “be” don’t actually rhyme, but that was a deliberate joke ego demands that I jump around the room like Daffy Duck going WOOHOO! WOO! WOOHOO! WOOHOO! WOOHOO!what’s wild is, I think that your poem seems to have a lot in common with Petrarchan sonnets thematically (introducing a problem in the octave- the first eight lines- and then beginning a solution in the sestet-the last six lines- with reflection upon the problem) and Petrarchan sonnets don’t tend to have a rhyming couplet at the end because that would presume the solution of the problem. So based on the way you set this poem up, getting paid as a rockstar is not necessarily a solution to being confronted with “the world is a deceiver, thou a fool”. But it’s one way of dealing with it! -- source link
