hi everyone I literally just spent the last hour on my balcony (!! yes! I have a balcony!!) watching the sun set in the most majestic fashion. I have panoramic views of hills and distant woods and vast stretches of empty sky from my new apartment, and so the setting sun brings enormous peach streaks above the endless forests. I’m enamoured. the little speck you can see is Hoover Tower: the name isn’t exactly poetic but it’s like a little beacon for me when I’m in my apartment or coming up University Ave in the same way Magdalen Tower was for me at Oxford. it means that I’m home. so I moved over on Tuesday and apart from a room tour on Instagram I’ve been very absent. which has been lovely; I often forget that it doesn’t make your life any less full or worthwhile if it’s only in analogue form sometimes. not broadcasting doesn’t mean you’re not living, but I need to be reminded of this. I’m sorta moved in: I’ve got the basics but no decoration, and even cleaning supplies are a little thin on the ground. moving is expensive, you guys. my boyfriend is currently on the flight back to London, and we’re not going to see each other until Christmas. I christened my new kitchen by making caramelised onion and spinach pasta and it felt good to make my own food again. orientation begins tomorrow. I’m feeling relatively serene (for now), but good energy would be appreciated all the same. I promise I’ll get to my ask box as soon as I can. -- source link
