Willa Cather is a beloved voice of frontier life on the Great Plains. *April Twilights* is a 1903 collection of poems by Cather, which were initially published in different magazines under various pen names, as happened often with female writers of the time. This edition has been inscribed by Cather herself. The tipped-in card reads: “Dear Mrs. Swezley [?] I take pleasure in sending you a copy of the book you wish. It s out of print. Sincerely Willa Sibert Cather.” This book will be on display in the upcoming exhibition *OK I’ll Do It Myself: Narratives of Intrepid Women in the American Wilderness*, which will show off and celebrate the Caroline F. Schimmel Collection.http://ow.ly/Ka2F30ku4u8Call number: Schimmel Fiction 730 http://ow.ly/XGwb30ku4v4* * *#kislakcenter #pennlibraries #WillaCather #exhibition #libraryexhibit #rarebooks #firstedition #poetry #autograph #inscription #GreatPlains #specialcollections -- source link
