Drawlloween 2015, Day 12: Moon“The Light is cold, and it gets down into Elizabeth’s bones. But the cold isn’t half as bad as the pictures, drawn in silver moonlight on the walls.Because she cant sleep on nights like this, Elizabeth gets up and draws some pictures of her own. She uses lots of red pencils-red for the mugger’s jacket, red for the brick apartments, red for Andrew, where the knife went threw his chest. But she uses silver pencils, too. And she never leaves out the moon, because that’s the most important part. She remembers how silver moonlight bubbled up from the cracks in the sidewalk, pulling Andrew down and holding him once he fell. After a long time clouds moved in and the moon disappeared, but by that time, Andrew was gone.Elizabeth’s parents keep telling her Andrew is dead. They don’t remember what really happened, but Elizabeth does. That’s why she draws the pictures-to make sure she doesn’t forget. She knows that Andrew didn’t really die.The moon stole him away. And thats another thing entirely.”-Drawing the Moon by Janni Lee Simmer. Book of Nightmares 1==========If you like good “kids” horror you should check out the “Book of” series by Bruce Coville. Each book is a compilation of short stories by different writers, Bruce only writes the first story in each book, but they are all wonderful and beautifully creepy.I actually didn’t have any silver pens or anything that would work that really said “Silver” and I almost scrapped this cuse it just didn’t feel right without the silver for the moons forms. I ended up using silver nail polish of all things with a very small paint brush. -- source link
