Hut circle at Grimspound (Dartmoor, England), dating to the lateBronze Age.A hut circle is the remains of a round house – a circular oroval-shaped depression in the ground, with evidence of a low stonewall (the foundation of the house) surrounding it. Most hut circlesin Britain are from the 1000s BC. They were made of wood and thatch, and ranged from 1.5 to 7.5 metres in diameter. Internal (andsometimes external) posts likely supported the houses, and theyprobably had conical rounded roofs. -- source link
