“Retrato de la burguesía” (Portrait of the Bourgeoisie), a mural by communist Mexican David Alfaro Siqueiros. 1939-1940. Sindicato Mexicano de Electricistas en la Ciudad de México (HQ of the Mexican Union of Electricians in Mexico City)There are still far-righters disingenuously claiming that the Nazis were socialists in order to smear the Left. A reminder that Hitler said this in 1931: “Communism … is the number one enemy of our organization and of the bourgeoisie. Only we are capable of saving the dying bourgeoisie from this enemy.”“It is impossible to have one part of the people supporting private property, while the other part denies it. Such a struggle tears the people apart. … In such struggles the people’s power is consumed inwardly, so that consequentially it cannot act externally. … The question of the preparation [Herstellung] of the Wehrmacht will not be decided in Geneva but in Germany, if, through internal calm, we will obtain internal force. Internal calm, however, is unobtainable before Marxism is done away with.”The Nazis borrowed a few ideas from the Left and stuck “socialist” in the party name in order to undermine the left and gain popularity; not because they were in any way socialist. Those claiming otherwise are ignorant or liars. -- source link
