animalsandtrees: “It’s not often i buy something i truly hate, but today for $45 i got me just that. The people who owned the store were very proud of this ‘piece’, and they seemed to think that i too really appreciated it for what is, for what they saw, a stunning hand made work of art. They could not have been more wrong. To me this atrocity is nothing more than a very private hell, a barren prison, to which God only knows how many birds were condemned to spend an endless life of misery, torture and abuse. Unable to barely spread their wings, never knowing the thrill of flight, staring at a world which they would never explore, day after day, month after month, year after year. When i first saw it, i felt sick, knowing what it was, but i also immediately knew i had to buy it. I had to buy it because i could not bare the thought that it might ever again be used as the prison it was designed to be. Honestly i wanted to take it home and smash it into a million little pieces, but The Tree Kisser had a better idea, she suggested i make it into a bird feeder, to make it useful for the first time, and to finally make it a positive experience for our little feathered friends. And so, tomorrow, i will do just that.” -Chris Hoar -- source link
