angry-carlisle-jr:phdna: sexylibrarian1: n-barnes: Bucky going into the darkness | Steve staying in the light Damn cinematography. Of course, my addition works within the constraints of the conversation so it’s probably a coincidence but I want to add - Bucky doesn’t walk into the darkness. He backs into it. Like someone cornered or pushed. But he keeps his eyes on Steve and on the light and he specifically says he’s going to come back. (Winter Soldier, anyone?) But this is even cooler if we go by the possible canon of him being drafted, because then - he’s both literally and visually being forced to leave all things bright and Steve and go into the dark nightmare that is the war Holy shit, how did you just break my heart in two paragraphs?I also really like this part because it drives home the whole ‘Steve and Bucky are two sides of the same coin’ theme. You know, one volunteered for an experiment willingly and the other was literally Bolted Down and experimented ON unwillingly. I mean. This scene says so much, but like.. mostly through lighting. And as @phdna said, one is walking away and the other is backing away. All while the two characters are saying Goodbye. Of all things. This scene is just so good and it kind of feels like a summary of what their future will be like for a long time.I would also like to add that it’s very telling that Bucky himself literally said, in the previous scene, that they were going to the future.Man, but this scene is so important and yet, it’s one of their most light hearted interactions in the entire series. Another reason why I really like this part. Fuck. -- source link
