circumsoldat:Kadiblis a folkloric figure well known within the Ottoman Empire as a herald of misfortune and failure. It is said to appear only to successful military and political leaders, leading them to ruin. Those that claim to have seen it describe it as an initially benevolent figure promising riches and success, eventually clouding their mind with unsound guidance. Aside from manipulation it does not appear to bring about any other harm to its victims. Modern scientists theorize that it is either indeed an extra-dimensional being communing with man through artifacts of the Divine Register. The other theory is that it is an advanced from of deterrent or mind influencing weapon meant to keep the Register from falling into the wrong hands, thus its confinement to the Ottoman empire. -- source link
