I placed an order on ASOS for 3 bridesmaids dresses and a wedding dress for myself. Perhaps this could be a day 2 dress during our casual luncheon. Well, I guess if the dresses turn out well, I sort of have a color scheme for my wedding. Also, thank god for free returns and refunds if the sizing or colors are not right. It is a risk I’m happy to bear. Cost: S$ 145 x 4 (before 18% discount). Also, this morning I had an epiphany on how to construct the programme such that it would combine my desire for a small intimate wedding vs what our parents/grandparents have in mind. I’ve got the buy in from L and my sisters, time to convince the parents! After I came up with the small family + closest friends only dinner idea, for the first time since the whole process, I felt a spark of excitement for our plans. Prior to this, I was dragging my feet on the useless formalities and superficialities of a wedding and anxious about costs, particularly on incurring costs on people I honestly don’t care too much about but who will show up for my parents/grandparents. Don’t get me wrong - I’m happy to incur cost, but only on the people I love and the people who I’d want to be dancing and toasting at my wedding even if they didn’t give me a single cent. I want a small intimate wedding where the focus is simply on the marriage of the couple, the commitment of the two individuals before God enveloped in the warmth and love of closest family and friends. It seems a compromise has been found (at least in my mind). Let the discussions begin! -- source link
