krem-de-le-creme:elthadriel:professionallilbrocarverhawke:redhawke:when ignorant people leave comments defending brownfaceif u dont think the dragon age fandom is racist show them this postapparently pointing out racism is hateusing patrick weekes as a goalpost for “not racist” is…. not smartI think what this really accurately demonstrates is that people think their love for fictional poc characters is more important than the feelings of actual poc. They “have” to do brownface because they love that character so much and they need to be accurate, and fuck what actual poc people think, because their feelings couldn’t possibly matter as much as the love for this nonexistant character. I’m the whitest person ever, so my thoughts are certainly not as valuable here as the poc who are speaking up, but I see it constantly with trans characters. Cis people talk about how much they love the characters and how wonderful they are, and then flip their shit when an actual trans person says their portrayal of the trans character is actually harmful. Seriously, if you are sitting there, thinking brownface is okay because it’s about accuracy and a love for the character, you might consider asking yourself why your love for the character is more important than people who you know, actually exist and have real feelings.Just a thought.^^^^^Yupppppp. Seriously, the white man got it right. <3Y’all putting your “love” of fake characters before us, living breathing POC, telling you that this hurts us to see, and that this is actually nasty and horrible, and for the love of god fucking STOP.We’re real. We’re here. And we need you to stop telling us what does and doesn’t hurt us.“people think their love for fictional poc characters is more important than the feelings of actual poc“like clockwork -- source link
