ancientpeoples: Bronze tripod from Vulci. Etruscan culture, approx. 525–500 BC. Vulci was renowned for its exquisite bronze-work. This particular tripod, with intricately carved human and animal figures, and lion’s paws standing on frogs for feet, would be used to carry a cauldron or brazier. The carvings represent three sets of mythical figures: the twins Castur and Pultuce (Kastor and Polydeukes); Herkle (Herakles) and the goddess Menrva (Athena); and two satyrs. There doesn’t seem to be a connection between the three. Source: The Metropolitan Museum -- source link
