Thought I would show off an interesting specimen that has been in my collection for a while. I have “inherited” it, along with several others, from my old college, where my passion for natural history was well known. I believe it to be a juvenile domestic horse, but I would welcome an opinion of someone more experienced with Equidae. It’s 40 cm in length and has certainly seen better days. The cool part is that the entire skull is cover in writing. Every single bone is labelled, though in some places the ink is either faded or rubbed off along with the varnish. Guide lines used in labelling can still be seen in places. I’m not sure how old exactly it is, but judging from its looks, condition and history of the college, it could easily be 150+ years. -- source link
