lochiels:Henriette was the youngest daughter of Charles I and Henrietta Maria, born in 1644 and married to her cousin Philippe, Duke of Orléans in 1661. Known as Madame, she was very popular with the French court and was noted for her flirtatious and charming behavior. She played a major role in the completion of the Secret Treaty of Dover, preceding her unexpected death in June 1670. The cause of her death has never been absolutely solved; while some argue that it was by poison administered by her husband’s lover the Chevalier de Lorraine, there are historians who insist she was died because of a perforated peptic ulcer. She was buried at Saint-Denis, placed by her mother Henrietta Maria, until the French Revolution when the royal graves located there were looted and destroyed, and the bodies removed into mass graves. The Jacobite claims to the British throne following the death of Henry Benedict Stuart, descend from her through her daughter Anne Marie, Queen of Sardinia. -- source link
