Christmas is a time of giving, loving and sharing. That is not all that Christmas is about though. There are so many who do not know the true meaning of Christmas or why it has been celebrated for so long. Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. In Christianity and Catholicism, the story of the birth of a King and Savior is told. A man who would save the people from their sins and all who believed in him and God would have ever lasting life in Heaven. That man was born of the virgin Mary. God chose her to birth the baby Jesus and to be raised by her and husband, a carpenter, named Joesph. Jesus was born in a manger in Bethlehem in Judea. Gift giving has always been a traditional part of Christmas. This also plays part in the story of the birth of Jesus. It is said that three Wise Men (or three Kings) heard of the birth of a new “King”. They visited the manger bearing gifts for baby Jesus of gold, frankincense and myrrh. The story of Jesus does not end here though. There is much more to his story, but I will stay on the topic of just his birth for now. Where the Christmas tree really fits in is still speculated. There are many different reasoning behind why it is used. One theory is that the evergreen tree is a show of life in the coldest and deadest of winter and that when Jesus was born, those trees all over the world shook the ice and snow from their limbs and stood upright in the wintery night. It is the sign of the strength of Jesus. Keep in mind what is being celebrated on the 25th day of December. It is not only about giving, family, friends and kindness but about the birth of Jesus Christ. -- source link
