zekedms:terfkirby:Reminder that intersectionality deals with the intersections of race and class with misogyny and how that affects feminism and has nothing to do with gender theorySometimes I swear terfs are just fucking TRYING to be ignorant. The original framework also didn’t directly address queer issues and disability, but just like feminism often ignored women of color the rest of us have grown to recognize kyriarchal issues over time. Of course I’m no scholar on feminist issues and it would mean more to let an expert with logged experience in intersectionality speak for herself, so here’s one I found:“Intersectional erasures are not exclusive to black women. People of color within LGBTQ movements; girls of color in the fight against the school-to-prison pipeline; women within immigration movements; trans women within feminist movements; and people with disabilities fighting police abuse — all face vulnerabilities that reflect the intersections of racism, sexism, class oppression, transphobia, able-ism and more.” - Kimberlé Crenshsw, 2015, https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/in-theory/wp/2015/09/24/why-intersectionality-cant-wait/But if y'all can’t recognize that keep her name out of your patriarchal feminism.@terfkirby haha terfs cant read -- source link
