gymbunnycandie: Making Captions to PicturesI’ll admit, some things are only funny to me–as in this caption. LOL This was my first thought, as soon as I saw the picture. I did a little girly giggle to myself and was planning on keeping it to myself. But, rather than discarding the goofy thought, I thought I’d share it with you and add a few remarks about making captions.Pictures tell open stories. Like art, the artist invites a critic to imagine, even if it’s completely out of tune with the artist’s intent. Some would look at this picture and see a sexy athlete leaning against a tree giving an icy or exotic glare at the viewer. But in my messed up mind, the first thing I saw was a feminine Braveheart protecting her tree, daring anyone to even try and cut it off the ground. Make me a girl, but don’t steal my tree! Stupid, right? Actually, I don’t think so. It’s all about telling a story no matter how absurd or unconventional it may be.Your captions develop the story of a picture further and they narrow the narrative, like using a funnel. What was once an open story, now has clearer meaning–even if it’s light-years away from the original intent of the model and artist. The fun part is that you get to determine how open or closed the funnel can be. Sometimes, you may want to be very specific (closed) about the story you are telling from the picture. There’s less room for a viewer to think for herself. Other times, you may want there to be some mystery to it. A shorter caption is normally more mysterious and open. They also give more room for imagination for the viewer–and this may very well include naughty and kinky thoughts that you only imply.Captions are simply fun ways of forming a story. It’s not about having the best picture, though that helps. It’s not about having the most clever caption, though that helps too. It’s about telling a story and gifting your imagination to be explored by others. A good caption is a present for others to unwrap.Much love to ya!Candie -- source link
