outcastfromgallifrey: The world tilts, and the only reason he hasn’t floated away—never mind gravity, or physics, or the laws of science—the only reason he’s not in the stars is Rose’s hand on his arm, as she peers over his shoulder and holds him to the Earth. “They’re—” He tries to speak, but his voice cracks before he can finish the sentence. The babies—the children—their children—they coo in his arms, both of them. Twins. A boy and a girl. “They’re beautiful,” he manages, closing his eyes briefly and smiling so broadly it hurts his cheeks. He doesn’t have to look at Rose to know that she’s grinning too. “They’re ours,” she whispers, her grip tight against his bicep. “Yeah,” he manages, and he’s scared, for a second—he’s only done this once before, and that time he hadn’t— He hadn’t been— He clears his throat, holds them tighter. If he’s completely still, he can hear and feel both of their hearts beating out a familiar four-beat melody. Rose must sense his emotions, for her grip softens somewhat. “I’m—I’m so glad I met you,” she whispers. She leans her head against his shoulder and it’s like the past five years flash before his eyes. Meeting, traveling, loosing, finding. “I’m so glad we have this,” he whispers in return.
