deathlydelicious:petermorwood:They must have been planning a photo version of this famous ad……so you have to wonder, what did His Master’s Voice just say?I had a classmaste do a rebranding project on HMV in uni a few years back and learned the mythology behind the name and the mascot.Apparently one of the founders had this Russell terrier who was just the most vicious little animal on the planet, and would basically attack anything and everything at the drop of the hat. Pretty much everyone who knew this guy lived in fear of this dog, and no one could control him. Execpt his owner. The minute he heard his owner giving him and instruction, he would stop instantly and become very docile and obedient. So the joke among the friends became he would only respond to his masters voice, so when they came to founding a audio equipment shop, they decided to name it after their little in joke- his masters voice- and use the exact dog as the mascotso they were probably playing literally any sound at him and he just popped of like a prizefighter because that was just his mood 24/7 -- source link
