emmadelosnardos:Parade’s End resources: The booksBecause I’ve seen a lot of questions on the Parade’s End tag about the storyline and characters in Parade’s End, I thought I’d put together some links to the original source materials and related references, so that people can easily access the material.Project Gutenberg Australia (Project Gutenberg is a worldwide endeavor to publish electronic versions of books that are in the public domain. An amazing resource for conducting quick word searches for different passages in novels, when you can’t remember exactly where that one scene occurred! I’ve been using it for 10+ years.)Book 1: Some Do NotBook 2: No More ParadesBook 3: A Man Could Stand UpBook 4: The Last Post — not yet availableWikipedia entries — providing detailed summaries of the plots of each book — extremely helpful, whether you are reading the books for the first time or watching the miniseries. Some Do NotNo More ParadesA Man Could Stand UpThe Last PostAnd although most scholarly articles about Ford Madox Ford and Parade’s End are not available outside of university libraries, havingbeenbreathedout has pointed me to the Book Blog Search Engine, which combs selected book blogs to give you posts that are related to practically any book you want to read about. There are some good reviews there of the Parade’s End books.I also highly recommend the (unfortunately very pricey) Carcanet critical editions of the books. I bought the Carcanet edition of Some Do Not… and am greatly enjoying the footnotes and the reconstruction of the original ending.Happy reading! And if you find this post interesting, please reblog so that more fans of Parade’s End can find these materials, too.Signal boost. –MM -- source link
