✨Imagine Utopia : What does it look like? What does it /feel/ like? As 2019 approaches, I’ve been wrestling ♀️ with the question. It’s an important one, because if we want to make change in this world we must first be able to imagine the world we desire. It’s a question I visit when I’m working through burnout . The exercise is adapted with love from Center for Artistic ActivismSo I’ve been thinking about what liberation looks like. With our current political landscape, utopia looks like revolution - or maybe that’s just what it /feels/ like. I don’t think revolution is always radical act, and I’ve been thinking about the moments in history when innovation and change is welcomed and celebrated… like when Apple introduced Macintosh computers. What if we treated the idea of overthrowing the gender binary in the same way? In this one, I wanted to use the aesthetic of early Macintosh and 80s futurism to create what would be a PSA in my Utopia (also yeah, u got me, I needed a nonbinary Steve Jobs) this is the first in a series of images relating ideas of utopia and the aesthetics of revolutionary moments in history.Art by Liberal Jane -- source link
