brodinsons:zuviosgemini:“Bitch I KNOW you did not just call them ‘imagined slights’.”Actually no. You know what, they’re both in the wrong here.Thor’s blinded by his affection for Midgard (and by proxy; Jane), which means he feels as though he’s just been attacked. So, he’ll react accordingly and try his hand at reasoning with words before resorting to fists. (As per his confrontational habits.) He’s raring for a fight, and with their rift as deep as it is, he’s likely to get it.Now, on the other hand, we have Loki. “I remember a shadow, living in the shade of your greatness.” Oh man can wE JUST TALK ABOUT THIS LINE FOR A SECOND.He’s explaining to Thor exactly how he’s felt over the centuries always being the second son, always being the dark prince, the cold prince, the one in the shadows. Then, when we look back at the first film, we remember Thor outright apologizing for whatever insults he unknowingly paid his brother that led him to attack Midgard with the Destroyer. So, we know that Loki has never explained his grievances to Thor. He simply expects Thor to know what they are intuitively (scholarly pursuits and verbal dealings are not Thor’s strong point, and Loki knows this, which has made it so very easy to tally up all these unconscious insults Thor has paid him and turn them against him at an opportune moment). Loki knows he’ll never measure up to Thor in the eyes of Asgard or their parents (despite Frigga and Odin loving him to this day), so if he can’t be equal, he’ll be Thor’s opposite. Now, moving on to the next line. “I remember you tossing me into an abyss!”Oh Loki. You warped soul. He’s been so twisted around that he’s convinced himself that his own version of reality is the truth. Does anyone else remember Thor’s actions on the shattered edge of the Bifrost? Catching hold of Gungnir and then trying to grab Loki before he fell? Anybody remember what happened when Loki let go?Yeah, sorry, old boy. Your brother still blames himself for not catching you in time. He didn’t throw you anywhere. You let go. And yeah, he might be oversimplifying your grievances, but it might help your cause to actually explain to him what they are? And what he can do to prevent the same mistakes from ever happening again? He’s sure as hell not blameless, but neither are you, Loki./apologizes for unnecessary meta on a gif post -- source link
