Capital determines where money gets invested, in pursuit of profitable returns on investment– and between the mental health researchers accounting for social/societal factors like this, and the ones pretending they don’t exist and everything is an individual problem, guess who gets the funding, which gets them the dominance in the field, which gets them the jobs, which gets them teaching their successors…which gets us to where we are at.I highly recommend finding an explicitly anticapitalist therapist if you can. It makes a world of difference to be able to discuss the causes of problems as they actually are, rather than being gaslit by your therapist about the structural abuse entailed by having to sell your precious hours of life for the right to continue to exist. -- source link
