4 THINGS I LEARNT FROM MODELLINGSo I am at a transitioning stage of my life where modelling is taking a backseat because my job is moving forward and therefore requires more time and I am finding much more joy in lingerie blogging and the lingerie community. That doesn’t mean I am stopping modelling, not at all, but it gives me space to focus on more things I want to do and it also allows me to reflect on my modelling experiences and perhaps shares some insights with others. 1. “One thing modeling taught me is that the spotlight can change everything.”When I got into modelling it was because my entire teenage life I had never viewed myself as ‘beautiful’. I got into modelling with the aim of seeing myself as a ‘proper’ woman. Modelling did change everything for me and I would imagine has for others and if you are thinking of trying modelling, will for you.It changed everything from how I viewed myself as a person and my whole body. I can happily express that modelling is one of the best things I did but I also understand that modeling is a profession where your worth is tied up with looks so on the flip side of the coin, I did develop insecurities that can be tough to cope with at times. Modelling will change everything, in both good and bad ways but that is entirely dependant on an individual as to how much either way. I view and express my modelling as a great thing that I have done but understand that it has warped my perceptions because of this. Overall I don’t think you will ever meet a model that have glaring self doubt, even the ones of the cover of big magazines.2. “I’ve always seen modeling as a stepping stone.”Understanding whether you are going to be a ‘successful’ model is entirely dependant on what your view of success really is. In my opinion, real term success is either being known on a global level for your endeavours or being financially dependant on your profession, so I always knew that modelling was going to be a stepping stone in my life as opposed to a revelation. Despite this, doing modelling can be, and often is, a good thing to experience and will open new doors and new paths for one to walk or springboard you into the mainstream world of modelling because from trying you can easily be ‘scouted’ or plucked up in some good fortune. Whatever happens, whether it move you into the bigger world of modelling or sweeps you off your feet for a short while to only put them down in another avenue it moves you up in the world in one way or another. 3. “This modeling thing, it’s pretty easy, but actually it’s also really tough.”Modelling is an extreme black and white situation. The idea and the actual visible aspects of modelling is easy but it’s all the behind the scenes that is tough. Nobody tells you how strictly organised you need to be, how thick a skin you need to grow or the bitterness you will experience through rumours and unpleasant people. Modeling is not something you excel because you are clever, it is based on your physical appearance so it is, as others have said, the offspring of the gene pool lotto. If you’ve got it, people will want it. The only thing you need to do for longevity is develop the ideal businesswoman persona. Befriend all with the old ‘if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all, be punctual, promote yourself constantly in more than one avenue and smile smile smile. 4. “Anyone can get dressed up and glamorous, but it is how people dress in their days off that are the most intriguing”Most crucially, remember, those people you see are normal people too. Although you may see them filled with social media happiness and constantly beautiful they too sit at home in baggy tops or PJs and relax. They too have bad days and they too feel. Nobody is perfect, no matter how perfect you may think they are. -- source link
