The Tale of Two Cities according to Stephi & Heiko – Part 332We have talked about the parking situation in our cities before. If you remember, it’s a real hunt to get a parking spot. Either you don’t find any parking spot at all or you have to pay a fortune. That’s the situation for everyone. And then there is the situation for disabled people. They don’t have to pay with a parking permit. But they have to find a parking spot just as well. And as there maybe some designated disabled parking spots, you still have to find them and have to find them unoccupied as well. Usually you find these disabled parking spots around train stations, public halls or places, but rarely where you really need them in a place of residence. Then disabled people are part of the hunt. The problem for them is that they often need extra space, e.g. to get in and out of a car as they are unable to squeeze out of a car like other people. It’s kind of a miracle that Stephi and I found two unoccupied disabled parking spots. The first picture form Munich is probably close to a train station is and I have no idea how a disabled person or a person in a wheelchair will get up those stairs. The second picture from Cologne is close to a public skating hall and swimming pool. How is the parking situation for disabled people in your area? -- source link
