gamebird:silenttccries:an interesting twitter thread. these are only some highlights, the thread is far longer and more exhaustive: you can find it here. i suggest you go read itI would love to have a social media filter that only showed me posts from certain distances from me or from various points I designated. So like if I wanted to follow news from Alaska where my uncle lives and Plymouth, England where some friend of mine lives, as well as everything within 120 miles of Tulsa, Oklahoma where I live, then that’s what I’d get! I could toggle it off and on to the entire globe if I wanted, or just the US, or just one of my custom lists (family, family&friends, fandom, etc.) It would be fantastic if the filters could be set to something other than geographical proximity as well, like topics. I’ve tried to work with Google News to get what I want and I have a section for Oklahoma news, but for example I can’t figure out how to get rid of Sports or Global … Maybe I’m not literate in how to use the program, but on the other hand it’s clearly not user-friendly enough for a goober like me to figure it out. -- source link
