Roman Calendar - June 7, Vesta AperiturVestalia festival (June 7-15) began and temple of Vesta was opened to general public - Or shall we say to married women and Rex Sacrorum who were allowed to enter the temple. Oddly enough, every day of Vestalia was also regarded as an inauspicious day. Consequently it was believed that people should not start anything new and also avoid any serious business like waging a war, getting married or travelling. I guess Romans thought that opening the temple to common people endangered penates and the sacred fire. Photo 1: Temple of VestaPhotos 2-4: House of the VestalsRome, July 2007 -- source link
