kevinwada:Kitty Pryde Series 2!I’m trying a new thing - and do let me know if it’s to your liking - where I post images separately with little to no text, and then do a follow up post where I talk your ears off about the thought and process that went into the pieces. That way, you can reblog what you want with little noise from me. Sound good? Sound silly? Let me know. These Kitty pieces are so much fun for me. Single figure, no background, lots of flashy costumes. Heaven. The top piece is costume 1, and I’m really happy with how this one came out. I think it has the best movement of all the pieces and while it’s a silly looking costume in reality, the color blocking is really cool and hopefully I implemented it well. Below and to the left is costume 2, which is one of the first Shadowcat costumes I had ever seen outside of her traditional yellow and black getup. I remember seeing it on a poster hanging in my ex-boyfriend’s room and thinking…what the fuck is that? If the first one costume is an ice skating outfit, this one is pure pirate. It’s a painfully simple uniform once you break it down and probably not all that easy to fight in. But that HAIR. I’m loving giving her back her huge curly hair. Costume 3 is on the right and it gave me pause. The commissioner really wanted some side and backside shots of Kitty and I was left with the issue of showing her backside with out falling prey to the gratuitous booty shot in which so many female comic characters are posed. Hopefully, I made her look strong, powerful, and focused, and not booty-tooched and objectified. Costume 4 is Kitty from X-men: Evolution and I had such a blast doing my own spin on a tv show version of the character. It really is an odd uniform when you look at the details, if incredibly simple. Whenever there’s a ton of black or an almost-black-dark-color on a figure, I love coming up with ways to describe form. Where her arm and shoulder overlap with the black of her torso was a fun portion of the figure to stylize.Let me know what you guys think! Love getting feedback. -- source link
