smallmariofindings:There is a detail in the design of Nimbus Castle in Super Mario RPG that is either cleverly foreshadowed by a line by Mallow near the beginning of the game, or is a remarkable coincidence.Throughout most of the game, Mallow does not know that he is the prince of Nimbus Land, and falsely thinks he is a frog instead. He mentions that he cannot jump, which would be odd for a frog. Later, when Nimbus Castle is explored, it is revealed that it is designed entirely without ledges that need to be jumped on, and can be traversed completely without jumping (zoom in to the bottom map to see the full layout; note that the ledges that look like they can be jumped on are actually too tall to jump on, and can all be reached from other rooms without jumping).Since the castle seems like it would have been designed for people who cannot jump, the line about Mallow not being able to jump could be a reference to this. However, it could also be a coincidence; still, as the vast majority of the game’s areas (including interiors) require jumping to traverse, the layout of the castle does seem out of place enough that it is at least possible that this is a deliberate worldbuilding decision tying in with Mallow’s statement.Main Blog | Twitter | Patreon | Small Findings | Source -- source link
