every summer, my then boyfriend and i would go on a trip deep into ontario, three hours up north from where i lived. i absolutely loved the isolated feeling of rural ontario - nothing but abandoned barns and “detour stores” for miles. ontario can feel quite isolated at times, with a lot of “nothing” with things dotted few and far between. later when i moved to the united states, this became more striking to me. it takes hours and hours and hours just to get to the middle of the province. realizing how large the space is here is quite daunting. -- source link
