myhumanweakness:hashtagteamfreewill:justholdingstill:fromcenotaphy:yourfavoritedirector:13.01he was in love with him hereThis scene is forever branded in my brain. I wrote about it when it happened; I am writing about it now.Can we just talk for a second about the sheer, raw, intimacy that is implied by Dean preparing Cas’ body for his funeral? Alone? Giving his last rites, as it were? With that look of utter devastation on his face? After presumably kneeling with his body in the dirt until dawn?As if he didn’t love him back. As if.^ this. and there’s a brilliant meta post out there i remember (wish i could find the link..) about how Dean is doing exactly what a widower would do for their lost love, pre-pyre. This moment is probably one of my top 3 favorite destiel moments out of every single moment between them. There is so much intimacy and love and care and respect displayed here, and it‘s confirmed by the absence of the other characters as well. That moment of Dean praying- whether he‘s giving Cas his last rights or whether he is saying one last prayer begging Cas to wake up- he looks up hoping to see Cas breathing beneath that sheet. Look at the way his head pops up, and we see the shot of Dean with hope in his eyes looking at Cas, followed by the shot of the continued stillness of Cas‘ body. Dean is in love with Cas here. There is no denying it. This was the moment (obviously followed by Dean‘s soul-crushing expression while burning Cas‘ body, especially in contrast to Sam‘s) I knew Cas occupies a very particular space in Dean‘s life/heart. And that is very much the space of his partner & love. -- source link
