teenagesmog:Shin Yun-bok or Hyewon (1700s) was a Korean painter of the Joseon Dynasty. He is known for his realistic depictions of daily life in his time. His genre paintings are sometimes distinctly erotic which contributed to his expulsion from the royal painting institute, Dohwaseo. Not much is known about Shin Yun-bok’s life. His father and grandfather had both been court painters. There is almost no official record of Shin. Some say he was a royal painter but somehow got exiled and some even say he was a woman, due to the stricking use of females as subjects of paintings. Are his pornographic paintings just that or are they scandalous depictions of should be upright confucian gentlemen who are engaged in affairs with gisaengs?Who/What are gisaengs? I will post on them extensively tomorrowThe First are untitled (maybe) works depicting sexual relations. The next are “Portrait of a Beauty”, “Lovers Under the Moon” and another “Lovers Under the Moon”.I must mention that i’m not sure if there is one hundred percent proof they are his (the sex scenes). Is it just me or are his beauties in the sex scenes not as lovely as in the other scenes? Is that the point? I will let you know if I can find out. -- source link
