The art of Fullmetal Alchemist is not the most visually stunning, but the complex plot and characters more than make up for the lack of aesthetic beauty. I’ve been interested in anime since I first saw Sailor Moon as a young child. The plights of the young Sailor Scouts fascinated me; the show dealt with the occult in ways that most of the Disney movies I had seen avoided. The show, while it did deal with romance, also explored cataclysmic end of the world scenarios much more frequently.I began watching Fullmetal Alchemist recently, after a friend recommended it to me. The protagonists are two brothers: Edward and Alphonse. They are alchemists, which means they are able to use magic-like abilities to create what most people would call miracles. The show starts out dark and disturbing and only continues to get darker. Much like the X-Files, massive and dark conspiracies are at play - only these are centuries old. While you may be wary of watching a animated show - in America it’s assumed that cartoons are for children - Fullmetal Alchemist absolutely fit for adult consumption as well. If you enjoy dark fantasy shows with convoluted plots, conspiracies, and ancient magic, you will probably love Fullmetal Alchemist. -- source link
