⑇ Ariel Coraline Andersen | 19 | CollectorAriel was young when she tragically lost her mother to a human ship and from them on, never trusted humans, especially after her father banned them from even going near humans. Though, she found them fascinating, so she ignored her deepest fears and went to observe a ship coming close to their city. She saw a man dancing about with a furry creature on the deck. They seemed to be having some sort of celebration! She wished she could take part, but it was forbidden. However, she can’t stop thinking of the man. When his ship goes down, she saves him, already having fallen in love with him. She hauls him to shore and revives him, singing softly before she disappears. She tries desperately to get back to land, fawning over his statue as she considers how, before she realizes-the sea witch! She swims to her caves and signs a contract, giving her voice away. She goes back to Prince Eric, but finds he’s fallen in love with another, whom she recognizes as Ursula, the sea witch. Heartbroken, she tries to will her tail back, but to no avail. Just as she gave up hope, Scuttle, her trusty seagull friend, comes to her, telling her that she can change back if she retrieves the shell necklace, so she does. She regains her voice and her tail and tells her father of what’s happened. He takes care of Ursula and she is none the wiser, instead just basking by the shores where no pesky humans will bother her. -- source link
