rainbowrites:crown-of-weeds:nowishforwings:crown-of-weeds:rainbowrites:oh Blainers. You just persist in thinking that McKinley is actually in the real world and makes sense don’t you? When will you learn…(I WANT A SHOW OF BLAINE SIDE EYEING EVERYTHING. LIKE, SPIN OFF: GLEE: THROUGH BLAINE’S EYES)Who was I talking about class with before, because the contrast between Kurt and Blaine here? Should give us enough to talk about for days.I was at least one of those people, and oh yes. This is a Kurt who I remember is a mechanic’s son (though JFC he needs to have his face mask down or, if he can’t see the awesome shower of sparks well enough that way, switch it out for some good goggles at least). And is that Puck or Finn in the background behind Kurt? And Blaine is just deeply uncomfortable with all the industrial gear. (Also, side note, Joe, what are you looking at? Because keeping an eye on Joe’s reactions is my new game).Kurt is pretty delighted by the sparks. And Blaine’s all child labor wtf.I just remembered that they’ve both built cars. Kurt all his life, growing up a mechanic’s son. And Blaine, as a ‘bonding’ exercise his father made him do.I think they have very, very different associations with this kind of thing. Remember how in S1 Wheels once they have a ‘moment’ they start working on a car together? And in S3 Burt says that when Kurt comes in to work, it means he wants to talk about something. The garage, and working on cars, is something homey to him. Something calming and fun. It’s just part of his lfie. And then there’s Blaine, for whom manual labor like this comes with the memories of ‘be a man’ and a father trying to turn him straight. It’s pretty much the exact opposite of Kurt’s experiences. Burt uses working on cars to show how much he loves and accepts his son. Mr. Anderson uses working on cars to show how much he doesn’t.Also, even though Kurt’s the one with the kooky scarf, Blaine definitely looks the one wearing a costume. Kurt looks completely at home in his gloves and (NOT PROPERLY ON) maskOooh, point. -- source link
