tenaflyviper:victoriabeckhamncheese:theotakux:tenaflyviper:*loud cackling*The movie isn’t even out yet! How can the stuff be on clearance already? I know the movie will suck, but DAMN…I don’t get why this is funny? If this movie were made with 4 funny male actors everyone would be losing their shit about this movie. These 4 females are incredibly funny, I wouldn’t be calling this movie terrible, especially before its release. This whole idea of women not being funny needs to go. And then when women are funny they are scrutinized for it.Uh…you know I AM a woman, right? And one whose childhood dream was to be a comedienne, and who could rattle off a considerably large list of popular comediennes from the past five or six decades, thus proving that no one actually believes that women can’t be funny. It is not through the fault of any of the actresses that people oppose this reboot:Harold Ramis, who played Egon Spengler and co-wrote both of the original films, passed away. Immediately afterwards, the reboot was greenlit, possibly because Ramis was the last holdout that couldn’t be bought off.In the big Sony information leak from a while back, it was revealed that Sony had plans to “pursue aggressive litigation” against Bill Murray if he “declined to participate” in the reboot. Both Murray and Ernie Hudson had previously expressed their disapproval of the film.It is not the film it was intended to be. Fans had been waiting a LONG time for a third Ghostbusters movie, and it had been in gestation for years before it was yanked out of development hell, and passed off to a completely different crew.Nobody was hired because of talent, or an actual desire to make the film. The information leak also revealed that the company’s method for churning out films targets the filmmakers and actors/actresses from the highest-grossing films of the previous year. The media is actively manipulating audiences in their marketing of this film. If you truly think that “misogyny” is the real reason why people oppose this film, then congratulations! You’ve fallen victim to a false narrative. Sony has been deleting any and all constructive criticism left by women on the trailers, and purposefully leaving the very few negative comments that aren’t constructive in order to blame “sexism” for the film’s inevitable failure. To top it off, they paid select journalistic entities and fan sites to only publish positive reviews.Since I don’t care to repeat myself about the rest, I’ll just direct you to here, which contains sources for all of the above, and more (including how all the reboot protagonists are negative female and/or racial stereotypes):http://tenaflyviper.tumblr.com/post/144893038880/sexydeatheater-whats-funny-about-the-newhttp://tenaflyviper.tumblr.com/post/145445291025/takashi0-tempered-fist-superllama42I’m gonna tell you flat out, and I know you don’t want to hear it, but this movie is going to fail. It has nothing to do with the female cast, and everything to do with how it is poorly-written (the script is awful), poorly-executed (the CGI looks like it came from Disney’s Haunted Mansion), is in poor taste (as it came hot on the heels of Harold Ramis’ passing), and is literally exploiting women as both a marketing tool, and a shield against criticism. People also can’t seem to wrap their goddamn brains around the fact that fans love the CHARACTERS just as much as the concept. The final nail in the coffin is that China–the most populated country in the world–has a ban on all foreign films featuring ghosts. That’s a pretty significant loss of potential overseas revenue.Sony hijacked someone else’s production, painted it in neon colors and glitter, and said, “Here’s your GIRL movie! We made it all sparkly and safe, just for YOU! Fall to your knees and praise us for how progressive we are, otherwise you’re human filth that deserves to be publicly humiliated!!!!!”.Nah. Fuck that. Homie don’t play that. -- source link
