INKTOBER DAY 16AngularMy patreonMy redbubbleAll 2018 inktober postsThe quote in the horn is from the poem Eloa Sister of the Angels. The poem is about Satan falling in love with a female angel, seducing her, and leading her to her ultimate ruin because she is too naive to question him. And that’s… ok I guess but I’m sort of tired of that narrative, the cautionary tale of how women are naive and easily (and permanently) ruined…I like imagining, instead of falling angels, conflicted demons who are themselves changed and inspired. This is actually my favourite drawing so far. I looked at references, I think the rendering is ok, and I like how the type is incorporated. I will probably print this out and put it up on my wall, I like it so much. It seems like the drawings I like best tend to be the least popular with everyone else though! As an aside, while I was doing research for this, I landed on the wikipedia page for the sculpture Le Genie du Mal, which always makes me laugh… it was a sculpture of Satan that was commissioned for a church, and the church decided that Satan was too hot, so they made the artist make a new sculpture with a scarier Satan. (and IMO they only made it hotter, so, whoops)As a SECOND aside I am spending way too much time on these *cry* I can’t keep up this momentum and I really don’t think I can top this for next year. -- source link
