Administrative tablet (Ur, 2026 BC).This is a typical bureaucratic tablet of the Third Dynasty of Ur, andis a register of fields and their yields over the course of one year. It is from the reign of Ibbi-Sin (2027 – 2004 BC).Ibbi-Sin was the last king of the Third Dynasty of Ur. Sumerianculture had undergone a renaissance during this dynasty, after theAkkadian and Gutian conquests. But during Ibbi-Sin’s reign, theSumerian empire was attacked repeatedly by Amorites. Elam declaredits independence, and began to raid as well.Ibbi-Sin was unable to expel the Elamite invaders, and eventually hewas left with only the city of Ur. Then in 2004 BC, the Elamitesmarched to Ur and sacked it. They took Ibbi-Sin prisoner, and hedied in captivity. -- source link
