Jules“When my first was a newborn I had 6 to 8 weeks of breastfeeding hell. My nipples were cracked, I got thrush and he finally had a posterior tongue tie revised. I was so tired and every feed, just before he would latch my toes would curl with anticipation of pain. After the tongue tie was revised it got a lot better. I’ve had blebs and blocked ducts since, but that first bit of becoming a new mum and breastfeeding were bloody hard.I love how calming breastfeeding can be - to everyone! It makes me take time to sit down and do nothing but be with my boys. I also love that it is so convenient. Kids tired, hungry, upset, scared, sick, whatever? ‘Boobies’ will fix it.I know my rights on being able to breastfeed anywhere I’m allowed to be with my kids, but sometimes I feel self conscious, especially tandem feeding or just feeding my three year old in public. I do feed him in public though, if he needs it, he needs it.My mum breastfed me, so I suppose there wasn’t a question on whether I would breastfeed or not, it’s part of my micro-culture!It just works for us to be breastfeeding at this stage. If it wasn’t working and/or I or the boys didn’t want to, then I wouldn’t be breastfeeding them.My advice to other mothers would be, ask yourself what your breastfeeding goals are. A month? 6 months, 2 years? Beyond? Then tell your support network your goals . When things get tough, they’ll be the ones to help get you through.” -- source link
