The Hino Kimura PistolInvented in 1902, production of this pistol began in 1908 and ended in 1912. Originally chambered for 8mm Nambu, the Hino Kimura pistol utilizes a unique blow forward design, in which the discharge of the round pushes the barrel forward, extracting a spent casing and loading a fresh round. The 8mm cartridge proved too powerful for the system and they were then produced in .25 ACP and .32 ACP. Only 1,000 were produced. Production ended when the Japanese Military adopted the Type A Nambu because of its more “rugged” and “reliable” design. Very few of these pistols survive and they are considered rare collectors pieces today. -- source link
